Grid tool
The grid tool lets you project a layout overlay onto any site so you can check rhythm, spacing, and alignment without leaving the browser.
Enable or disable grids
Select the Grid tab on the toolbar. Guests can explore grids during the free trial; signed-in users keep access according to their tier. If access is locked you will be redirected back to the Measure tab with the login wall.
Configure columns and rows
Open the grid sidebar to tweak the layout:
- Columns: set count, width, gutter, offsets, and margins. Turn columns off entirely with the toggle.
- Rows: mirror the same controls for vertical rhythm so you can validate cards or hero blocks.
- Fill cells: add a faint background to highlight each column or row when you need extra contrast.
Share grids across tabs
Each page stores its own grid configuration, but enabling "Show grid on other tabs" keeps the overlay visible when you switch tools. That is ideal when you want to measure spacing while the grid is still in view.
Align rulers with the grid
If you use Designer Tools' rulers, activate "Align rulers with grid." The extension snaps ruler tick marks to the column configuration so the measurements line up with your grid baseline.
Rulers turn on automatically when you start measuring. If you hide the grid, the rulers return to their default spacing the next time you visit the page.
